Three Anti-Aging Procedures That Don't Require A Long Recovery

If you are unhappy with your appearance and wish you looked younger, you may be looking into anti-aging surgeries. But what if you do not want to spend weeks recovering from a full facelift or other extensive procedure? Have no fear! There are a few anti-aging procedures that will take years off your appearance but that don't require a long recovery.

1. Dermabrasion

You may have heard of dermabrasion's less-serious cousin, microdermabrasion. Like microdermabrasion, dermabrasion involves the removal of the outermost layers of your skin using an abrasive substance. Dermabrasion, however, goes a little deeper than microdermabrasion, so the results are more profound. You may see shallow wrinkles disappear completely. Deeper wrinkles will be diminished, and age spots will look paler. Dermabrasion will make your skin look red and irritated for a week or so, but you can return to work after a day or two, so the recovery is not terribly extensive.

2. Injectable Fillers

There are numerous injectable fillers on the market. They all work in a similar manner. Your doctor injects a material under your skin, and it adds volume to the area. Fillers are great for easing the appearance of wrinkles and folds. The safest options generally contain hyaluronic acid, which is a component found naturally in your skin that diminishes with age. Filler injections only take a few minutes to administer, and there is virtually zero recovery time. You can go right back to work after your injections. Any redness or swelling is pretty minor and should go away a day or two later.

3. Mini Facelift

If you do not mind going under the knife but simply do not want to spend weeks in bed afterwards, a mini facelift might be for you. In this procedure, your surgeon just makes two small incisions near your ears, removes a little extra skin from the area, and pulls your skin up to fight sagging. This procedure is great if most of your sagging skin is found in the lower half of your face. The incisions may take a week or two to heal, but they are not obvious and don't cause a lot of pain as you recover.

If you would like to look younger but do not want a full facelift, talk to a cosmetic surgeon like those at Nova Health Therapy about these and other less-drastic therapies. Let them know what time you can dedicate to recovery, and they can recommend an option that works for you.
